What We Do
Our Aim
Mission
To unite USAFA Cadets past and present to combat sexual assault, sexual harassment and survivor abuse at USAFA
Vision
Zoomies Against Sexual Assault (ZASA) is a USAFA Association of Graduates (AOG) Affinity Group that is open to all cadets, former cadets (alumni and graduates), as well as families and friends of USAFA. Our goals are three-fold:
-
Eliminate sexual assault/sexual harassment and survivor abuse at USAFA
-
Ensure appropriate post trauma care and support to survivors
-
Build a bridge between USAFA and those who have lost faith in the institution and its leadership
In order to accomplish our goals ZASA members:
-
Support USAFA sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention programs
-
Provide information, resources and support to survivors
-
Publish and share facts with the AOG, parents’ groups, cadets and future cadet candidates
-
Attend all USAFA Board of Visitors meetings
-
Meet regularly with USAFA Senior Leadership
How We Do It
2
Survivor Support
ZASA connects USAFA survivors of sexual assault/harassment with support resources and a safe space to share their experiences. While not counselors, we advocate for survivors and aim to restore trust in USAFA’s response system by attending all related court-martials.
3
Prevention
ZASA supports USAFA prevention programs by attending courses, providing feedback, and sharing insights with the AOG, parents, and future cadets. We also explore prevention research and advocate for refining admissions to enhance cadet safety.
4
Outreach
ZASA maintains a webpage with facts and resources and serves as an AOG Affinity Group open to cadets, alumni, families, and friends. We aim to rebuild trust in USAFA by educating members on sexual harassment and survivor retaliation.
5
Continuity
ZASA ensures continuous focus on eliminating sexual assault/harassment amid USAFA leadership changes by engaging senior leaders, attending Board of Visitors meetings, and participating in DoD and Service Academy prevention efforts.
